The 5th round of the Trout League was fished last night in glorious weather, the canis fly were out in force again which made the ideal conditions not so ideal with only a couple of fish being caught in day light hours. An excellent sedge hatch developed as dusk set in with the bigger trout coming out to play as darkness descended. Kevin Tipper won this round of the league with a fine trout of 15 inches, Jason Nolan was 2nd with a 13.5 inch trout & Dermot Mitchell 3rd with an 11inch trout. All the anglers felt the competition was only hotting up when we had to finish, it was suggested that next year it might be an idea if it was fished on a Saturday so a later finish time could be availed of. All enjoyed the evenings fishing and the balmy temperatures even if it did get a little sweaty in the waders, one angler who was wearing neoprene's thought he lost about 2 stone over the course of the evening that will save the cost of a gym membership so. Next round is the Green Peter in Lough Owel on the 27th July which is always a good evenings fishing and a BBQ afterwards is always well received.
Thigh Lines.
Heres a photo of one of the fish caught last evening a nice 13.5 inch which secured 2nd for Jason Nolan
