The Intel Trophy

Hi All
A bit of catching up to do sorry for the delay the Intel Trophy was fished on the 18th June weather was a little challenging, cold with a stiff breeze but Leixlip Anglers weren't to be deterred. A good turn out as usual. The Trophy was won in the end by Kevin McLaughlin with 6 fish for 54 inches total very well done Kevin on such a challenging night, second was Dermot Mitchell with 3 fish for 30 inches and 3rd was Jason Nolan with 3 fish for 25.5 inches. Both Donal Connelly and Dermot Mitchell had a 12 inch fish which was the biggest on the night well done all who fished on a tough night. Also we finally have the scores from the Patricks Day comp so we will have the league table fully up dated very soon.

The Leixlip Festival Competition

Hi All

The leixlip Festival competition was fished on Friday 3rd June. A fine evening with a nasty little North breeze blowing meant the hatch wasn't great, however most anglers got at least one fit to the net. The winner on the night was Michael Callaghan with the largest fish of 14.5 inches, Anton was second with a largest of 13 inches and Kevin McLaughlin was 3rd with a 12 inch fish. Well done Michael and all who fished on the night. It was the traditional back to the Salmon Leap Pub for a few drinks later.

Apologies there was only 7 of us left when someone suggested a photo

The Hawthorn Cup

Hi All
The Hawthorn cup was fished on the weekend with a fine turnout on a lovely sunny Sunday morning.
The hatch was not as good as was hoped as a nasty little north breeze set in during the morning which put a bit of a dampener on the hatch. Some lads still had their fun though with Anton, Sean, Jason & Rob all catching a good few fish. Anton continued his recent form with a fine total of 105 inches to win the cup on  the day well done Anton. A few pictures below taken on the day.

Paddy's Day Comp 2016

Hi All
The Patricks Day completion was fished on Sunday the 20th March. As usual this competition had a very good turn out it might be the fact that the river fishes well at this time of year but we all know its for Donals BBQ which is always a big hit. Water conditions were the best they have been all year so far, but still quite cold for this time of year. Dermot Mitchell continued his good form from last year by winning this competition for the first time with a fine 14 1/2 inch trout, well done Dermot.
Heres a few pictures taken on the day below.

1st March 2016

Hi All
The 1st of march has been and gone and wasn't as kind to the Leixlip Anglers as it has been in previous years, temperatures were quite low, both in and out of the river. Water levels were quite high also making crossing the river most dangerous.  A few anglers braved the conditions and a couple of trout were caught Anton having the first trout of the year, well done Anton. Below are a few pictures taken on the day.
A few of the brave souls who braved the horrible 1st of March conditions

Anton with the first fish of the season well done in such bad conditions Anton

All the usual 1st of march regulars are missing (maybe they knew something)

Just a round up of the Trout league Dermot Mitchell won the title Trout League Champion in 2015 with a handsome 9 point victory, he put a lot of effort in last year and it paid off well done Dermot. We will post some pics of the presentation of the trophy as soon as we get them.
