The Intel Trophy 2013

Hi All
The Intel Trophy was fished on Sunday a rainy evening greeted the anglers who turned out for an evenings fishing and a bit of craic.
A good turn out on the night with everyone catching some fish and enjoying the evening even if it was raining.
One angler reckoned it would be drier under water than it was above, he was wrong, we wont call it fell in more lost his balance and instead of fighting it accepted his faith and sat down a wet but wise choice.
Kevin Tipper won the event with a fine haul of 69 inches with Aidan Crean 2nd  & Gianluca 3rd.
Well done Kevin and all who braved the weather for a good evening on the Rye.
The League table is now up to date with a double haul of points to be added to it (the festival comp points and the intel trophy points) it has certainly gotten very tight at the top of the league with only a point between most anglers in the top ten at this stage, with no clear leader anyone could win it. With River clean ups etc its been a very busy few weeks, now its all done we hope to enjoy some fishing in our nice clean river.

River Clean Up 2013

Hi All
The Leixlip Anglers & The Leixlip Tidy Towns combined forces again yesterday evening to clean out the Rye & Liffey rivers. As was the case last time there was more rubbish in the rivers than anyone realised with 2 & a half bulging trailer loads being removed mostly metal from ranging from crowd barriers to men at work signs quite fitting as it happened as all the volunteers worked really hard during the evening to drag all that rubbish out of the river. A massive well done to all involved.
An impromptu game of River volley ball although I don't know if the choice of swim suits will attract much TV coverage

Gerry Woods Leixlip Anglers puts the finishing touches to the 2nd trailer load of rubbish

Leixlip Tidy Towns take the last load of rubbish to the dump

An evenings hard work over but I'm sure that bin can take more coke bottles

The Festival Competition 2013

Hi All
There was a good turn out for the Festival competition as usual with over 20 anglers fishing the river some had more success than others. We were greeted with a fine evening for fishing a little windy at first but that calmed down to leave a still warm evening, the hatch didn't arrive until late the same can be said for the Trout someone should have told them they were invited earlier, with most fish being caught late the winning fish didn't arrive until after 10pm Brendan OReilly caught it a fine 20inch trout. Everyone enjoyed the evening with a pint or two to round it out in the River Forest afterwards.
Well done Brendan a fine Trout by any measure.
A Good turn out on the night an evenings fishing done now off to the River Forest for a pint
